A Florida man was surprised to find that the wind had blown him off a cliff and onto the beach.
In the middle of a thunderstorm on a recent afternoon, Joe Boulton was waiting for a boat to come by.
He said the storm had been going on for three hours when he got a call from the weather station telling him to get off the cliff.
“The weatherman said, ‘Joe, you’re going to die,'” Boulson said.
“So I thought, ‘You know what?
I’m going to try and get out of here.'”
Boulton says he was just out of the shower when he saw the storm coming.
He told ABC News he thought, “That’s crazy.
There’s a storm coming.”
He grabbed his cellphone and began to take photos of the storm as it approached.
He was shocked to see the waves crash over the cliffside.
“You just see this huge, huge wave crashing over the edge of the cliff,” he said.
Boulson says the wind and rain made the area feel like it was underwater.
“You just don’t want to go back in,” he told ABC.
He didn’t realize how dangerous it was until a few days later when he found himself on the beach after a car struck the water and killed him.
Boultton’s family was devastated by his death, and he was unable to reach them during the next few days.
He and his wife were able to find comfort in the fact that they could now find a place to stay for the night.
“I just know it’s the best thing that could ever happen to me,” Boulter said.
