Atlanta (CNN) — Temperatures in the metro Atlanta area are expected to drop into the low 30s with high winds and rain expected to spread throughout much of the region Friday.
The Atlanta area is expected to see more than 10 inches of rain, according to the National Weather Service.
The weather service said rain will likely fall through early Saturday, but that it could change as the weekend progresses.
“A number of areas could see up to 10 inches (31.2 centimeters) of rain and a wind chill of 20 to 30 degrees,” the weather service wrote.
A rain shower will start early Friday night and continue through Saturday morning, with the highest rainfall forecast through the day.
More rain is expected Friday evening and into the evening.
Atlanta is home to one of the fastest growing cities in the country, with nearly 2 million residents, the weather agency said.
The weather agency expects the heaviest rain of the day to fall on Sunday night, followed by thunderstorms Saturday morning and into Saturday afternoon.
