How the weather will be changing throughout the week.
Phoenix, Arizona, was named as the city to watch for extreme weather conditions Thursday as the temperature in the city hit 107 degrees and the wind chills reached 30 below zero.
Temperatures are expected to drop as low as 20 degrees by Friday, but winds will continue to gust upwards of 40 miles per hour.
A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect for the city, with an eye toward severe weather, heavy rain, gusty winds and possibly tornadoes.
The worst of the weather is expected to hit the Phoenix area on Saturday and Sunday.
Temperatures in Phoenix on Thursday were the lowest recorded since December 2016.
